CALGARY – The Calgary Police Service is issuing an urgent plea to the public as the search for 11-year-old Parker Wells continues. Investigators are warning citizens to exercise extreme caution regarding content circulating on social media, specifically highlighting the rise of artificial intelligence-generated media that has begun to permeate digital discourse surrounding the case.

In a formal statement released on Monday, police identified a growing trend of synthetic imagery, deepfake videos, and fabricated claims concerning Parker’s current whereabouts. Authorities expressed deep concern that these AI-generated materials are not only misleading but are actively complicating the investigation by blurring the lines between verified intelligence and manufactured rumors.

The department emphasized that these digital distortions create significant confusion and, more importantly, divert critical investigative resources. When officers and specialized task forces are forced to investigate false leads sparked by viral misinformation, it detracts from the time and energy available to pursue credible, actionable intelligence that could lead to locating the missing youth.

To combat this, the Calgary Police Service is urging the public to refrain from sharing or perpetuating any altered images, AI-generated content, or unverified reports. Officials stated that the only accurate information regarding the investigation will originate directly from official police channels, cautioning that any content appearing elsewhere should be regarded as highly suspect and potentially damaging to the search effort.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Parker’s disappearance remains active and ongoing. Police are encouraging residents to be vigilant and verify the source of any information before engaging with it online, reminding the public that their cooperation is vital to maintaining the integrity of the search and ensuring that law enforcement can operate as effectively as possible.

Authorities continue to appeal for assistance from the community, specifically requesting any high-value evidence that could accelerate the search. Members of the public who possess genuine CCTV or dashcam footage relevant to the investigation are asked to upload it directly to the police portal at https://cps.ca.evidence.com/axon/citizen/public/ca26318270. Residents are encouraged to follow CityNews Calgary for ongoing, verified updates regarding this developing local story.
