The Senate’s Media and National Guidance Committee, led by Senator Mohammad Dawoudieh, recently convened a pivotal meeting with Minister of Government Communication and Government Spokesperson Mohammad Momani to address the critical need for a unified national media strategy. Amidst the backdrop of escalating regional instability, the committee emphasized the urgency of bolstering national discourse to effectively counter the proliferation of disinformation and rumors. By prioritizing official communication channels, the committee aims to fortify the public’s awareness and resilience against external threats that seek to undermine Jordan’s internal cohesion and national interests.

Senator Dawoudieh articulated that under the strategic guidance of His Majesty King Abdullah II, Jordan is navigating regional turbulence with a sophisticated, responsible diplomatic approach. While the Kingdom remains committed to de-escalation and the pursuit of political solutions, the committee stressed that readiness remains a cornerstone of the state’s security posture. Dawoudieh highlighted that in these “exceptional circumstances,” the public must rely exclusively on verified information from official state institutions to ensure that national security is not compromised by speculative or malicious narratives.

A primary focus of the Senate committee remains Jordan’s steadfast commitment to the Palestinian cause. Senator Dawoudieh reaffirmed that Jerusalem and the protection of Islamic and Christian holy sites remain the Kingdom’s highest national priority. The committee underscored that Jordan will continue to leverage its political and diplomatic influence to advocate for the Palestinian people’s rights, ensuring that the Palestinian struggle remains at the forefront of international discourse despite the various geopolitical challenges currently gripping the region.

Minister Momani provided further clarity on the government’s operational philosophy, describing a balanced approach designed to minimize the impact of regional crises on domestic stability. He explained that the government is strictly committed to maintaining the continuity of public life, ensuring that daily activities remain undisturbed unless specific security assessments necessitate otherwise. This measured response is intended to protect the Kingdom’s economic vitality and maintain national stability, preventing unnecessary panic or disruption to the citizenry’s routine.

Elaborating on media policy, Momani explained that the state’s core strategy involves providing accurate, timely information to cultivate public trust. By aggressively countering misleading reports and disinformation, the government seeks to preserve national morale and prevent economic volatility. The Ministry is actively investing in media and information literacy programs, empowering citizens to discern truth from manipulation. Momani noted that this collective awareness acts as a vital defensive mechanism, as an informed and united public is the most effective shield against attempts to sow discord or division within Jordanian society.

Concluding the session, Minister Momani paid tribute to the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army and the nation’s security agencies, highlighting their exceptional vigilance in safeguarding the country’s borders and airspace. He emphasized that the state remains fully committed to enhancing the capabilities of these institutions, acknowledging their indispensable role in maintaining the Kingdom’s sovereignty. The message from both the Senate committee and the government remains clear: through institutional coordination, transparency, and high-level defense readiness, Jordan remains resilient in the face of regional uncertainty.
