Southeast Asia’s Top Influencers Unite to Combat Misinformation in New ‘Trusted Creators Lab’

Singapore – In a groundbreaking initiative aimed at stemming the tide of online misinformation, Temasek Foundation, TikTok, and social impact communications agency Love Frankie have launched the Trusted Creators Lab. This regional program, unveiled on August 28th at the Mondrian Singapore Duxton Hotel, will empower 19 prominent influencers from Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia with the tools and skills to become beacons of truth in the digital landscape. Jasmin Lau, Singapore’s Minister of State for Education and Digital Development and Information, attended the launch, underscoring the government’s recognition of the urgent need to address the pervasive challenge of fake news. The program reflects a growing awareness that combatting misinformation requires a multifaceted approach, enlisting the powerful reach of social media influencers to disseminate accurate information and build trust.

The Trusted Creators Lab represents a significant investment in media literacy and online credibility. Over the next seven months, these influential figures, boasting a collective following exceeding 15 million users, will undergo rigorous training in journalistic standards, fact-checking techniques, and impactful storytelling. Through a series of masterclasses, mentorship sessions, and content labs, the creators will hone their abilities to identify misinformation, debunk false narratives, and present verified information in engaging and accessible formats. This initiative recognizes the crucial role influencers play in shaping online discourse and aims to transform them into agents of responsible information sharing.

The program’s emphasis on building a regional network of trusted digital voices is paramount. By bringing together influencers from across Southeast Asia, the Trusted Creators Lab fosters collaboration and knowledge sharing, enabling them to learn from each other’s experiences and develop best practices for combating misinformation within their respective communities. The creators represent a diverse range of content verticals, from lifestyle and beauty to finance and personal development, ensuring that the program’s impact extends across various online communities. This regional collaboration underscores the interconnectedness of online information ecosystems and the need for a united front against misinformation.

The selected influencers exemplify the program’s commitment to diverse voices and impactful content. Singaporean creator Nancy Eva (@nanc.e), known for her witty commentary and feel-good energy, blends lifestyle, fashion, beauty, and tech content, often collaborating with her siblings on @afro.sings. Representing Malaysia, Zuleika Marie Gomez (@vogueunicorn_) connects with young audiences through her relatable content on relationships, beauty, and everyday life. Indonesian creator Samuel Christ (@miliardermudaindonesia) demonstrates the power of motivational storytelling, offering financial advice and inspiring entrepreneurship among the nation’s youth.

The culmination of the Trusted Creators Lab will be the release of collaborative TikTok content in January 2026, with the ambitious goal of reaching over five million users across Southeast Asia. This campaign will showcase the creators’ newfound skills in combating misinformation and promoting media literacy, demonstrating how they can leverage their platforms to entertain and educate their audiences. By producing compelling and informative content, these trusted voices will equip their followers with the critical thinking skills necessary to navigate the complex digital landscape and discern fact from fiction.

The Trusted Creators Lab is not just about equipping influencers with tools and skills; it’s about fostering a cultural shift in how we consume and share information online. This initiative sets a precedent for collaboration between public institutions, social media platforms, and content creators in the fight against misinformation. It underscores the potential of influencers to become powerful advocates for media literacy and online trust, shaping a more informed and resilient digital society. As the program progresses, it will be crucial to monitor its impact, evaluate its success, and adapt its strategies to address the ever-evolving challenges of misinformation in the online sphere.
