India Strikes Deep Inside Pakistan in Retaliation for Terror Attacks: Operation Sindoor Targets Terrorist Infrastructure

NEW DELHI – In a decisive move against terrorism, India launched "Operation Sindoor" in the early hours of Wednesday, striking deep inside Pakistan’s undisputed territory and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). This marks India’s most significant military action within Pakistani territory since the 1971 war, signaling a firm resolve to combat cross-border terrorism. The operation targeted terrorist infrastructure and training camps linked to the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), groups responsible for planning and executing numerous attacks within India. This action comes as a direct response to the recent Pahalgam terror attack and aims to eliminate the leadership of these organizations.

Indian forces, utilizing precision munitions and a coordinated strategy involving the Army, Navy, and Air Force, successfully hit nine terror targets. Four of these targets were located within undisputed Pakistani territory, including Bahawalpur, Muridke, and Sialkot. The remaining five targets were in PoJK. The Ministry of Defence emphasized that the operation was "focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature," with no Pakistani military facilities targeted. This precision targeting underscores India’s commitment to minimizing civilian casualties and avoiding escalation of the conflict. The operation demonstrates India’s resolve to dismantle the terrorist infrastructure that continues to threaten its security.

The decision to strike deep within Pakistan’s territory underscores the gravity of the situation and India’s determination to hold those responsible for terrorism accountable. This bold action sends a strong message to Pakistan and terrorist groups operating within its borders that India will not tolerate cross-border terrorism and will take decisive action to protect its citizens. The Ministry of Defence has affirmed that the strikes were carried out with precision, focusing solely on terrorist infrastructure while minimizing the risk of civilian casualties and avoiding any engagement with Pakistani military assets.

Following the successful strikes, the Indian government, through the Press Information Bureau (PIB) Fact Check unit, actively countered misinformation circulating on social media. False claims alleging Pakistan’s destruction of an Indian Brigade Headquarters were debunked as fake. The government urged citizens to rely solely on official sources for accurate information and refrain from sharing unverified reports. This proactive approach highlights the government’s commitment to transparency and preventing the spread of misinformation, particularly during sensitive times.

The Ministry of Defence held a press briefing later on Wednesday to provide further details about Operation Sindoor and answer queries from the media. The briefing aimed to shed light on the specifics of the operation, the targets struck, and the overall impact of the action. This transparency further emphasizes the government’s commitment to keeping the public informed about critical national security matters and ensuring accurate information reaches the citizens.

The operation has drawn significant attention internationally, with many countries closely monitoring the situation in the region. While India maintained that the strikes were a necessary measure to counter terrorism, the international community called for restraint and de-escalation. The United Nations urged both India and Pakistan to engage in dialogue and find peaceful resolutions to their differences. This incident highlights the ongoing tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors and the delicate geopolitical balance in the region. The international community remains concerned about the potential for further escalation and urges both sides to prioritize dialogue and peaceful resolution of disputes.
