Kavitha Accuses BRS Colleagues of Spreading Misinformation, Defends Public Service Initiatives Following Suspension

HYDERABAD – In a dramatic press conference held at the Telangana Jagruti office, MLC Kalavathi stood defiant against her recent suspension from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), accusing prominent party members, former minister Harish Rao and former MP Santosh, of orchestrating a campaign of misinformation against her. Kavitha, recently released from Tihar Jail after a five-and-a-half-month incarceration on charges she vehemently denies, addressed a packed room of reporters, asserting her unwavering commitment to public service and challenging the narrative that led to her expulsion.

Since her release on November 23rd, Kavitha has embarked on a whirlwind tour of public engagements, spearheading various initiatives aimed at empowering marginalized communities and addressing critical issues across Telangana. These efforts, she argued, are far from anti-party activities, but rather a demonstration of her dedication to the very people the BRS claims to represent. She detailed her involvement in a postcard campaign to secure financial aid for Gurukuls, traditional schools focused on preserving ancient Indian knowledge and culture. Furthermore, she has been a vocal advocate for increased reservations for Backward Classes, striving to ensure equitable representation and opportunities for these historically disadvantaged groups. Her commitment to women’s causes has also been a cornerstone of her recent work, although specific details of these initiatives were not elaborated upon during the press conference.

Kavitha’s public service endeavors extend beyond policy advocacy and into direct community engagement. She highlighted her active involvement in providing relief and support to villagers grappling with the devastating aftermath of floods in the Banakacharla and Bhadrachalam regions. These areas, severely impacted by recent heavy rains, have witnessed widespread displacement and property damage. Kavitha’s presence on the ground, offering assistance and coordinating relief efforts, underscores her commitment to serving those in need. Additionally, she pledged her continued support for landless individuals residing within the Chief Minister’s constituency, further demonstrating her dedication to addressing the needs of vulnerable populations.

Central to Kavitha’s defense against the allegations leveled against her is her insistence on inclusivity and open dialogue within the BRS. She emphasized her efforts to engage party workers from 47 constituencies in discussions surrounding pressing public issues. This participatory approach, she argued, is crucial for ensuring that the party remains responsive to the needs and concerns of its constituents. By fostering open communication and collaboration, Kavitha aims to strengthen the party’s connection with the grassroots and enhance its ability to effectively address the challenges facing the people of Telangana.

Kavitha directly addressed the BRS leadership, urging them to reconsider their stance on her suspension and acknowledge the value of her contributions. She framed her public service initiatives as a testament to her unwavering commitment to the party’s ideals and a reflection of her dedication to serving the people of Telangana. She questioned how her efforts to uplift marginalized communities, support flood-affected villagers, and engage party workers could possibly be construed as detrimental to the BRS. Her impassioned plea for reconciliation underscored her desire to remain a contributing member of the party and continue her work for the betterment of the state.

The press conference concluded with Kavitha reiterating her innocence against the charges that led to her imprisonment and expressing her determination to continue serving the people of Telangana, regardless of her formal status within the BRS. Her defiant stance and detailed account of her public service activities have injected a new level of complexity into the ongoing political drama within the ruling party, raising questions about the motivations behind her suspension and the potential ramifications for the BRS as a whole. The coming days are likely to witness intense speculation and analysis as the party grapples with the fallout from Kavitha’s public accusations and considers its next course of action.
