He served as a Subject Teacher, Personal Assistant to the Assistant Headmaster, and eventually Assistant College Secretary at Offinso College of Education before being appointed Acting Registrar. His contributions as Assistant College Secretary were significant, including proposing key college policies, spearheading the development of the college website, and contributing to the five-year development plan. Simultaneously, he pursued his passion for lecturing, serving as a part-time lecturer at several universities, including the University of Education, Winneba-Kumasi, the University of Cape Coast, and Jackson University College.

Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Abeni is a dedicated Methodist minister, actively involved in various church activities. He serves as a Special Assistant to the Missions and Development Fund (MDF) Coordinator, Secretary for both the Harvest and Welfare Committees, and is an active member of the Men’s Fellowship and Ushering Department at Freeman Methodist Church in Kokote-Offinso. His commitment to ministry further exemplifies his dedication to serving his community and upholding his faith. He has authored a book, Mending Your Marriage: The Christian Vision of Restoration, available on Amazon, and published several articles in academic journals, including a position paper in the Teacher Education Journal focusing on democratic accountability in Colleges of Education Non-Teaching Staff Associations of Ghana (CENTSAG) leadership and an article in the Open Journal of Educational Research (OJER) examining teacher motivation in Ghana. He actively participates in workshops and conferences, staying abreast of current trends and best practices in education and administration.
