Hyderabad Witness to Fiery Congress Rebuke of BRS Allegations

Hyderabad, Telangana – In a charged media conference held in Hyderabad, Congress Member of Parliament (MP) Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy launched a scathing attack on the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leadership, denouncing their allegations linking Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President and Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) A. Revanth Reddy with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. Reddy vehemently rejected these claims as baseless and politically motivated, accusing the BRS of resorting to diversionary tactics to deflect attention from their own alleged failures and controversies, particularly surrounding the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP).

The MP underscored the growing public scrutiny of the KLIP, emphasizing that citizens are increasingly utilizing online resources to investigate alleged irregularities associated with the project. He noted a surge in online searches and discussions related to KLIP’s cost escalations, potential environmental impacts, and alleged deviations from the original project plan. This burgeoning public awareness, Reddy argued, is a testament to the BRS government’s lack of transparency and accountability regarding the project, prompting citizens to seek answers independently. He contrasted this with the Congress party’s proactive approach to addressing public concerns.

Highlighting the starkly different approaches of the BRS and Congress governments towards inter-state water projects, Reddy pointed out the BRS’s silence during the implementation of the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Scheme (RLIS) and the Pothireddypadu Head Regulator project in Andhra Pradesh. He argued that this silence exposed the BRS’s double standards and its willingness to exploit regional sentiments for political gain. Conversely, he emphasized the Congress government’s commitment to safeguarding Telangana’s water rights, citing their proactive measures related to the Godavari-Bankacharla project as evidence of their resolve. The MP argued that the Congress government’s actions demonstrate their genuine commitment to protecting Telangana’s interests, unlike the BRS’s selective outrage based on political expediency.

Reddy further emphasized Revanth Reddy’s unwavering stance on protecting Telangana’s water resources. He reiterated the TPCC President’s commitment to pursuing all available legal avenues, including escalating the matter to the Supreme Court, to ensure Telangana’s rightful share of water. Reddy emphasized that the Congress party would not hesitate to challenge the Central government’s decisions if they were deemed detrimental to Telangana’s interests. He stated that the party would explore all legal recourse, including approaching the Supreme Court, to safeguard the state’s water rights.

Accusing the BRS of employing divisive tactics, Reddy condemned their attempts to incite regional sentiments and mislead the public. He argued that the BRS’s strategy of casting Revanth Reddy’s interactions with Andhra Pradesh’s Chief Minister as anti-Telangana is a deliberate attempt to create a false narrative and divert attention from the real issues plaguing the state. Reddy urged the people of Telangana to see through these political machinations and hold the BRS accountable for their governance record. He called upon the public to focus on evaluating the performance of the ruling party based on tangible outcomes rather than falling prey to divisive rhetoric.

Reddy concluded his address by reaffirming the Congress party’s commitment to fighting for the rights of Telangana and its people. He reiterated their dedication to transparent and accountable governance and their resolve to address the public’s concerns regarding critical projects like KLIP. He urged the public to remain vigilant and informed, encouraging them to continue seeking information and holding their elected representatives accountable. This, he asserted, is crucial for fostering good governance and ensuring a brighter future for Telangana. The MP’s strong words serve as a clear indication of the escalating political tensions in the state as elections draw closer.
