The core motivation behind these widespread closures appears to be a calculated effort to slash public spending at the expense of the local population. By labeling the consolidation of facilities as “reorganization,” the occupation authorities are systematically eliminating teaching positions, leaving a significant portion of the educator workforce unemployed and with virtually no prospect of finding new work in the devastated regional economy.
