India Formally Denounces Pakistan’s Alleged Disinformation Campaign Regarding Unrest in Jammu and Kashmir

India has launched a stern diplomatic offensive against Pakistan, formally accusing Islamabad of orchestrating a coordinated campaign of disinformation to distract the international community from the worsening systemic instability and human rights abuses within Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). The condemnation was delivered by Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal during a regular media briefing on Tuesday, marking a significant escalation in New Delhi’s rhetoric regarding the deteriorating conditions in the region. Jaiswal’s remarks underscored India’s stance that the current unrest in PoJK is a direct consequence of long-term mismanagement by the Pakistani state rather than external interference.

During the press briefing, Jaiswal characterized the recent surge of incendiary content originating from Pakistan as a “recurring pattern” of calculated deception. He suggested that the dissemination of fabricated news and manipulated videos is a “desperate tactic” employed by Islamabad to sanitize its poor record in the region. By manufacturing narratives aimed at externalizing tensions, India argues that the Pakistani administration is attempting to mask its inability to provide basic governance, thereby evading culpability for the socio-economic collapse currently unfolding in the occupied territories.

The Ministry of External Affairs specifically highlighted the violent crackdown launched by Pakistani security forces against civilians who have taken to the streets to protest against economic destitution. Jaiswal expressed grave concern over reports of systemic police brutality, noting that the protests—which were triggered by the deprivation of fundamental rights and extreme economic hardship—have been met with an iron-fisted response. The Indian government is closely monitoring these developments, emphasizing that the violence inflicted upon protesters by paramilitary units is a violation of human rights that demands global scrutiny and accountability.

The protests in PoJK have intensified in recent weeks, driven by a convergence of crises that have rendered daily life unsustainable for local residents. Demonstrators are primarily voicing their grievances against rampant inflation, the skyrocketing costs of electricity, and the critical scarcity of essential goods such as wheat and fuel. These demonstrations, which began as localized protests against fiscal burdens, have evolved into a broader challenge to the administrative authority of the Pakistani state, with citizens increasingly demanding better governance and a restoration of their economic agency.

In response to the burgeoning civil unrest, Islamabad has adopted a militarized approach to regional order, deploying paramilitary forces to quell the dissent. Reports indicate that these confrontations have led to a significant number of civilian injuries and several fatalities, further deepening the rift between the local population and the administration. The deployment of security forces, intended to restore order and suppress the agitation, has instead served to validate the protesters’ claims of state-sponsored oppression, drawing international attention to the fragility of Pakistan’s control over the region.

Ultimately, India’s public statements reflect a strategic push to emphasize that the turmoil in PoJK is an internal failure of the Pakistani establishment. By framing the disinformation campaigns as a diversionary strategy, New Delhi is signaling to the global community that Pakistan’s current domestic crises are insurmountable without fundamental reforms. As the situation remains volatile, the spotlight remains firmly on the cycle of economic deprivation and political repression that continues to define the human experience in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, leaving the international community to balance diplomatic caution with the urgent need for humanitarian awareness.
