Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister K. Atchannaidu has launched a scathing critique against YSRCP-affiliated social media actors, accusing them of orchestrating a deliberate misinformation campaign regarding the state’s Totapuri mango procurement process. According to the Minister, these groups have been circulating false claims about the operational stability and functioning of pulp processing industries, aiming to sow discord within the agricultural community. By allegedly distorting the facts surrounding harvest logistics, these factions are accused of prioritized political agendas over the economic stability of the farming sector.

The Minister’s official statement, released on Tuesday, highlights a growing concern regarding the use of platforms like WhatsApp to manipulate public sentiment. Atchannaidu emphasized that these misleading messages are strategically crafted to create confusion among mango growers, ultimately seeking to derive political mileage from what should be a straightforward commercial season. The government views this as a calculated attempt by the opposition to destabilize the market and create unnecessary panic during a critical period for the state’s fruit exports.

Addressing the broader concerns of the agricultural community, Mr. Atchannaidu reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of farmers. He clarified that the administration has consistently intervened whenever farmers faced market volatility or logistical hurdles. To restore order, he noted that clear directives have been issued to state officials to prioritize the farmers’ interests, ensuring that they receive remunerative prices while facilitating seamless procurement operations and maintaining robust coordination with local pulp processing industries.

In a stern warning directed at those spreading digital falsehoods, the Minister stated that the government would no longer tolerate the unchecked circulation of unverified data. He underscored that the administration is taking a serious view of these activities and intends to hold those responsible for disseminating baseless allegations accountable. Atchannaidu explicitly cautioned that any individuals or entities found spreading malicious misinformation in the future could face stringent legal action to prevent further disruption of the agricultural trade.

Closing his appeal to the state’s mango cultivators, the Minister urged growers to avoid falling prey to rumors propagated on social media platforms. He encouraged farmers to bypass suspicious online channels and instead bring their genuine grievances directly to the attention of the government. By establishing a direct line of communication, the administration aims to ensure that farmers are protected from propaganda and that they receive timely assistance for any operational issues they may encounter during the season.

Finally, Mr. Atchannaidu reiterated that the government’s primary focus remains the prosperity and security of the farming population. He dismissed the opposition’s claims as mere political theater meant to deflect from the state’s collaborative efforts with industry stakeholders. By maintaining a firm stance against political interference in the agricultural supply chain, the government hopes to stabilize the mango market and safeguard the livelihoods of the thousands of farmers who depend on the success of the annual harvest.
