Athens Hosts International Media Edukathon to Tackle AI’s Impact on Information

ATHENS, GREECE – From September 3rd to 5th, 2025, the ancient city of Athens will become a hub for innovation and collaboration as it hosts the TADAM Media Edukathon. This intensive two-and-a-half-day event will bring together 70 participants from 18 countries, representing a diverse array of media educators, researchers, and journalists. Their collective mission: to develop practical tools and resources that empower individuals to navigate the rapidly evolving information landscape shaped by artificial intelligence. The Edukathon is a key initiative of the TADAM project (Tools & Awareness about Disinformation, Algorithm and Media), funded by the Creative Europe programme. The project aims to address the challenges, identify best practices, and develop educational resources related to the intersection of AI and media.

The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), a prominent partner in the TADAM project, will be actively involved in the Edukathon, alongside its affiliates, the French Syndicat National des Journalistes (SNJ) and the Federación de Asociación de Periodistas de España (FAPE). This collaborative effort underscores the global recognition of the need for media literacy in the age of AI. The Edukathon will focus on the transformative impact of artificial intelligence on how we access, process, and share information. Participants will delve into the opportunities and challenges presented by AI, examining its influence on news dissemination, content creation, and the very fabric of truth and misinformation in the digital sphere.

The heart of the Edukathon lies in its interactive and collaborative approach.
