CBSE Combats Surge of Fake Exam Paper Leak Rumors on Social Media

New Delhi, February 17, 2025 – The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a stern warning to students and parents regarding the proliferation of false claims about class 10 and 12 board exam paper leaks circulating on various social media platforms. As the board exams progress, anxieties run high, making students and parents vulnerable to misinformation. The CBSE has taken proactive steps to address this issue, actively monitoring social media channels and collaborating with law enforcement agencies to identify and prosecute those responsible for spreading these unfounded rumors.

The board’s statement emphasizes the baseless nature of these claims, highlighting that they are intended to incite panic and disrupt the examination process. Officials have observed a surge in rumors circulating on popular platforms like YouTube, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and other social media channels. These rumors often involve claims of access to the 2025 examination question papers, preying on students’ anxieties and creating unnecessary stress. The CBSE has assured students and parents that these claims are completely fabricated and should be disregarded.

The CBSE’s proactive approach involves not just monitoring but also taking decisive action against those spreading misinformation. The board is working in close coordination with law enforcement agencies to identify the perpetrators and initiate legal proceedings against them. This collaborative effort aims to hold those responsible accountable for their actions and deter further dissemination of false information. The board has also emphasized the potential consequences for students found to be involved in spreading or engaging with such rumors.

Students caught participating in the spread of misinformation will face severe penalties, including disciplinary action under the CBSE’s unfair means rules. These rules are designed to maintain the integrity of the examination process and ensure a level playing field for all students. Additionally, those involved could also face legal consequences under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). This underscores the seriousness with which the CBSE views such activities and its commitment to upholding the sanctity of the board exams.

The CBSE has appealed to parents to play a crucial role in combating this issue by advising their children to exercise caution and critical thinking when encountering information online, especially regarding exam papers. It is essential for students to rely solely on official communications from the CBSE for accurate updates. The board’s official website and verified public channels serve as the only reliable sources of information regarding the exams. Parents are urged to guide their children towards these official channels and discourage them from engaging with or believing unverified claims circulating on social media.

The board’s proactive stance, combined with the cooperation of law enforcement agencies and parental guidance, aims to create a more secure and transparent examination environment. By actively combating misinformation and ensuring students rely on verified sources, the CBSE strives to maintain the integrity of the board exams and minimize undue stress on students. The board’s efforts send a clear message that spreading false information will not be tolerated and that those responsible will be held accountable for their actions. This comprehensive approach is crucial for ensuring a fair and equitable examination process for all students.
