Here are a few options, ranging from formal to more direct, all in a standard English news tone:

Option 1 (Most Formal & Neutral): “Regulators Urged to Treat Misinformation Pages with the Same Severity as Illegal Content”

Option 2 (Direct & News-Style): “Authorities Called Upon to Curb China-Related Misinformation on WPS Platform”

Option 3 (Specific to the Comparison): “Lawmakers Urge Stricter Measures Against WPS Misinformation, Citing Precedent for Blocking Harmful Content”

Option 4 (Concise & Official): “Government Urged to Apply Stricter Sanctions to WPS Disinformation Campaigns”

Option 5 (Standard Headline Format): “Pressure Mounts on Government to Block ‘China Misinformation’ Pages on WPS”

I would recommend Option 2 or Option 4 as they sound the most professional and clear for a formal report.

Indian Government Debunks False Claim Regarding Naval Officer’s Recall, Exposing Pakistani Disinformation Campaign

New Delhi, July 8, 2025 – The Indian government has refuted a fabricated letter circulating on social media claiming the recall of Captain Shiv Kumar, the Defence Attaché at the Indian Embassy in Jakarta. The letter, falsely attributed to the Ministry of Home Affairs, was part of a disinformation campaign orchestrated by Pakistani propaganda handles, according to the Press Information Bureau (PIB) Fact Check unit.

The fake letter, widely disseminated across various social media platforms, alleged that Captain Kumar was being recalled from his post in Jakarta. The PIB Fact Check unit swiftly responded to the misinformation, confirming that Captain Kumar remains in his position as Defence Attaché and denouncing the letter as a forgery. The incident highlights the escalating use of disinformation tactics in the digital age, particularly in the context of geopolitical tensions.

The PIB Fact Check unit emphasized that the Ministry of Home Affairs has no jurisdiction over the postings and appointments of Indian Navy officers, especially at the rank of Captain. Such decisions fall under the purview of the Integrated Headquarters of the Ministry of Defence (Navy). This clarification underscores the importance of understanding the bureaucratic structure and responsibilities within the government.

This incident is not an isolated case of misinformation originating from across the border. There has been a concerning rise in online propaganda campaigns aimed at spreading false narratives and stoking discord. These campaigns exploit the rapid dissemination power of social media to influence public opinion and potentially destabilize relations between nations.

The government’s prompt response and clarification demonstrate the crucial role of fact-checking mechanisms in combating disinformation. The PIB Fact Check unit has been instrumental in debunking numerous false claims and misleading narratives that circulate online. This incident underscores the need for enhanced media literacy and critical thinking among citizens to discern credible information from fabricated content.

The government’s advisory to the public to verify information through official channels and refrain from sharing unverified claims is a vital step in mitigating the spread of misinformation. In an increasingly interconnected digital world, where information travels at an unprecedented speed, responsible online behavior and reliance on verified sources are more critical than ever. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers of online misinformation and the importance of staying vigilant in the face of propaganda campaigns. It also highlights the ongoing need for international cooperation to address the growing threat of disinformation and maintain a stable and secure global information environment. The government’s proactive approach through the PIB Fact Check unit is a commendable step towards achieving this objective.
