Ashland Students Embrace the Magic of Devised Theater in Immersive Workshop

ASHLAND – For five exhilarating days, the halls of Ashland’s elementary and middle schools resonated with the vibrant energy of young performers as they embarked on a unique theatrical journey. The Empowered Arts Ensemble, renowned for its innovative approach to theater education, led a dynamic workshop introducing students to the captivating world of devised theater. This unconventional form of theatrical creation, where the final performance emerges organically through collaboration and experimentation, provided a fertile ground for the students’ imaginations to flourish. Unlike traditional theater with pre-written scripts, devised theater empowers young actors to become active participants in the creative process, shaping the narrative and characters through collective brainstorming, improvisation, and exploration.

The Empowered Arts Ensemble, known for its commitment to fostering creativity and self-expression in young artists, guided the students through a series of engaging exercises and activities designed to unlock their theatrical potential.
