NTA Cracks Down on Misinformation Campaigns Targeting NEET (UG) 2025 Exam
Nagpur, India – The National Testing Agency (NTA) has launched a major offensive against online misinformation campaigns targeting the highly anticipated NEET (UG) 2025 examination, scheduled for this Sunday. Over 165 Telegram channels and 32 Instagram accounts have been identified as sources of false and misleading information about the exam, prompting the NTA to file legal action against their administrators. The agency’s move comes in response to a surge in online rumors and fabricated content related to exam papers and procedures, creating unnecessary anxiety and confusion among aspiring medical students.
The NTA’s investigation, conducted in collaboration with the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs, has uncovered a network of individuals and groups actively spreading disinformation about the NEET (UG) 2025 exam. These malicious actors are reportedly disseminating false claims about leaked question papers, altered exam schedules, and fabricated information about examination centers, aiming to mislead and exploit vulnerable students. The NTA has issued a stern warning to students and parents, urging them to exercise caution and rely solely on official communication channels for accurate information about the exam.
With approximately 22.7 lakh candidates registered to appear for the NEET (UG) 2025 exam across 5,453 centers in India and 13 cities abroad, the stakes are high. The NTA has reassured students that all necessary security and logistical arrangements are in place to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of the examination, which is scheduled to take place from 2 pm to 5 pm on Sunday. Mock drills were conducted earlier today at all designated test centers to assess preparedness and address any potential challenges.
The NTA has also addressed recent media reports alleging instances of malpractice in Gujarat and Odisha, assuring the public that swift action has been taken against individuals accused of offering inflated scores or making fraudulent promises in exchange for money. The agency has emphasized its zero-tolerance policy towards any form of cheating or manipulation and has deployed law enforcement personnel across the country to prevent any attempts to compromise the integrity of the examination.
In a strong message to students and their families, the NTA reiterated that only official communications from the agency should be considered reliable. Candidates are cautioned against engaging with individuals or groups offering exam-related advantages, such as leaked papers or guaranteed high scores, in exchange for financial compensation or personal information. Such offers are unequivocally fraudulent and designed to exploit unsuspecting students, the NTA warned.
The NTA has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to ensuring a fair, secure, and transparent examination process for all NEET (UG) 2025 aspirants. The agency has pledged to take stringent action against anyone found to be involved in unfair practices, invoking the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act to prosecute offenders. The NTA’s proactive measures aim to protect the integrity of the exam and ensure a level playing field for all candidates. Students are encouraged to report any suspicious activity or encounter with fraudulent individuals to the NTA immediately, assisting in the collective effort to maintain the sanctity of the NEET (UG) examination.
