Naidu Rallies TDP for 2029, Warns of YSRCP’s Misinformation Tactics

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) national president N. Chandrababu Naidu has issued a clarion call to his party, urging them to commence preparations for the 2029 elections immediately. Addressing a gathering of TDP MPs, including Union Ministers, state Ministers, MLAs, and MLCs, Naidu stressed the critical need to proactively counter the anticipated misinformation campaign by the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP). He recalled how the TDP’s accomplishments between 2014 and 2019 were overshadowed by the YSRCP’s deceptive tactics, which ultimately swayed public opinion. Naidu emphasized the importance of door-to-door outreach, urging party members to highlight the coalition government’s achievements during its first year in office to regain public trust.

Naidu criticized the YSRCP’s governance from 2019 to 2024, alleging rampant corruption and regressive policies that set the state back decades. He attributed the state’s massive ₹10 lakh crore public debt to the previous administration’s mismanagement. While acknowledging the NDA government’s strides in the past year, Naidu acknowledged the formidable task of undoing the damage left by the YSRCP, including the revival of critical institutions and addressing the substantial debt burden. He cautioned against the YSRCP’s attempts to mislead the public about the coalition government’s progress.

Naidu highlighted the coalition government’s efforts to revive Centrally-Sponsored Schemes (CSSs), 86 of which had become defunct under the YSRCP due to non-payment of the state’s share. He also pointed to securing ₹15,000 crore in assistance from the World Bank and ADB for the development of Amaravati, the state capital, after the YSRCP allegedly attempted to stall central funding for the project. These actions, Naidu argued, demonstrated the coalition government’s commitment to development and its ability to overcome obstacles created by the previous administration.

The TDP leader recounted the party’s strategic approach in the 2024 elections, which involved social re-engineering based on caste and religion across different regions. This strategy, he claimed, resonated with voters, resulting in a near 94% strike rate for the TDP-Jana Sena Party-BJP alliance. He contrasted this success with the YSRCP’s performance, attributing their limited gains to public dissatisfaction with their governance. Naidu emphasized the coalition government’s balanced approach to development and welfare in its first year, further contrasting it with the previous administration.

Naidu criticized the YSRCP’s alleged deceptive tactics, citing the Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy murder case and the alleged attempt to murder Jagan Mohan Reddy as examples. He accused the party of attempting to mislead the public about the circumstances surrounding these incidents, stressing the importance of truth and transparency in public life. He reiterated his commitment to holding those responsible accountable for their actions.

Addressing his party members directly, Naidu stressed the importance of accessibility and responsiveness to the public. He warned that their performance was being closely monitored and that only those genuinely committed to serving the people would be successful in the 2029 elections. Naidu reiterated his zero-tolerance policy for indiscipline and failure to meet public expectations. He also advocated for the demonetization of ₹500 currency notes to curb the influence of money power in elections, reflecting his long-standing commitment to electoral reforms. Naidu concluded by highlighting the TDP’s history of leveraging central government support for state development, citing the party’s role in the formation of the National Front and United Front governments. He emphasized the party’s commitment to utilizing national resources for the betterment of Andhra Pradesh.
