Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu Issues Directive to Counter Misinformation and Enhance Governance
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has issued a stern directive to state officials, urging them to remain hyper-vigilant against increasingly sophisticated campaigns of misinformation that threaten social cohesion in Andhra Pradesh. During a comprehensive review meeting held at the Secretariat’s Real-Time Governance Society (RTGS) centre on Monday, Naidu expressed deep concern over the rising trend of politicizing isolated incidents by assigning them divisive caste or religious motivations. He cautioned that certain political factions are systematically propagating falsehoods intended to tarnish the reputation of both the state government and its administrative machinery. Consequently, he has instructed the state’s law enforcement and administrative wings to monitor and promptly neutralize fake campaigns that could sow discord or trigger social tensions.
Beyond the challenges posed by deliberate misinformation, the Chief Minister identified a concerning rise in incidents linked to substance abuse and mental health crises, which he noted require a more nuanced and attentive response from the state’s systems. Addressing the broader scope of public service delivery, Naidu emphasized a paradigm shift in how grievances are handled. He directed officials to utilize platforms like the Public Grievance Redressal System (PGRS) with a “humane approach,” urging them to treat every citizen with courtesy and empathy. By encouraging public servants to mentally place themselves in the position of the complainant, the Chief Minister aims to foster a more responsive administration that prioritizes timely, compassionate resolutions over bureaucratic indifference.
To elevate the standard of governance, Naidu announced that professional accountability will be tied directly to performance metrics. He advocated for a culture of innovation within government departments and declared that future responsibilities will be assigned based on demonstrated competency and initiative. Furthermore, he mandated that ministers and senior bureaucrats conduct frequent field visits to ensure they remain connected to ground realities. By stepping outside the confines of the Secretariat, officials are expected to make better-informed decisions that reflect the actual needs of the populace, rather than relying solely on filtered reports from the field.
The Chief Minister also championed the continued integration of technology as a cornerstone of his administration, noting that digital adoption has significantly streamlined file clearances and administrative workflows. While lauding these advancements, he insisted that processes must remain dynamic to meet the evolving demands of modern governance. On the law-and-order front, he provided a positive update on the tracing of cold cases and the successful prosecution of long-standing offenders. Additionally, he issued a specific instruction for strict enforcement of vehicle number plate regulations, emphasizing that clear adherence to road safety norms is a critical component of maintaining public order.
Looking toward future-ready infrastructure, Chief Minister Naidu announced a significant technological milestone: the launch of a quantum computer by December. Building on this momentum, he unveiled plans to establish dedicated quantum and semiconductor parks across the state, positioning Andhra Pradesh as an emerging hub for cutting-edge technology. This strategic move is intended to modernize the state’s industrial footprint and foster a knowledge-based economy, aligning with his vision to leverage high-end technological breakthroughs to solve systemic challenges and attract global investment.
In the final segment of his directive, the Chief Minister turned his attention to environmental stewardship as the monsoon season sets in. He placed a high priority on the expansion of green cover, improved sanitation protocols, and robust water conservation measures, including groundwater recharge and the protection of local water bodies. Naidu specifically warned against the pollution of rivers, calling for a collective commitment to preservation. Attended by top leadership, including Chief Secretary Neerabh Kumar Prasad and DGP Harish Kumar Gupta, the meeting concluded with a clear mandate for departments to ensure widespread public awareness regarding state services, reinforcing the government’s commitment to transparency and sustainable development.
