Minister Afroza Khanam Rita Sounds Alarm on AI-Driven Misinformation in Aviation Sector

Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam Rita issued a stern warning against the growing threat of digital disinformation during her visit to Manikganj today. Addressing a gathering at the Harijan Colony in the Old Launch Ghat area, the Minister specifically highlighted the misuse of artificial intelligence by malicious actors intended to smear the reputation of the current administration. She observed that these sophisticated digital campaigns are increasingly being weaponized to target and undermine the credibility of the national aviation sector.

The event, which served as a free medical camp and blood donation drive in honor of the 45th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, provided a platform for the Minister to address broader governance concerns. Emphasizing the importance of public discourse, she urged the citizens of Bangladesh to remain vigilant and avoid being swayed by manipulated narratives. The Minister stressed that in an era where AI-generated content can easily mislead the public, verification and critical thinking are essential tools for maintaining national stability.

Shifting her focus to domestic aviation priorities, Minister Afroza Khanam Rita underscored her commitment to enhancing the experience for expatriate Bangladeshis. Since taking office, improving conditions at the country’s airports has been a core pillar of her policy agenda, with a particular emphasis on creating a safe, professional, and harassment-free environment. Her remarks reinforced the government’s ongoing efforts to streamline services for migrant workers, who remain a vital engine for the nation’s economic prosperity.

The Minister elaborated on the government’s comprehensive roadmap for aviation reform, which includes an ambitious overhaul of existing infrastructure and service protocols. By modernizing airport facilities and introducing passenger-friendly technologies, the Ministry aims to elevate the standard of air travel for all citizens. These upgrades are not merely cosmetic; the Minister articulated that they are part of a broader strategy to ensure that Bangladesh’s aviation gateway meets international safety and quality standards, effectively modernizing the country’s connectivity with the global community.

A primary focal point of these reforms remains the transformation of Biman Bangladesh Airlines. The Minister reiterated her administration’s commitment to turning the national flag carrier into a reliable, efficient, and internationally competitive organization. She noted that by tackling operational inefficiencies and prioritizing quality service, the government envisions an aviation sector that can stand on equal footing with global counterparts, thereby boosting national pride and operational reliability.

Closing her address, the Minister expressed optimism regarding the future of the aviation sector, asserting that the current development initiatives will soon reflect tangible improvements for the public. The event concluded with the participation of local medical professionals and various community leaders, who joined the Minister in supporting the charitable health initiatives organized for the residents of the Harijan Colony. As the government presses forward with its modernization agenda, the call for media literacy and public vigilance remains a hallmark of the Minister’s current strategy.
