Foreign Office Condemns Modi’s Statement as Misinformation and Political Opportunism

Pakistan Rejects Indian PM’s Assertions, Warns Against Future Aggression

The Pakistani Foreign Office (FO) vehemently denounced recent statements made by the Indian prime minister, labeling them as provocative, inflammatory, and rooted in misinformation. The FO spokesperson, Shafqat Ali Khan, characterized the statements as a dangerous escalation that jeopardizes regional peace and stability, particularly at a time when international efforts are focused on de-escalation. Pakistan maintains its commitment to the recently established ceasefire agreement, facilitated by friendly countries advocating for regional stability. The FO categorically rejected the Indian narrative portraying Pakistan as desperately seeking a ceasefire, deeming it a blatant fabrication.

The FO accused India of exploiting the Pahalgam attack without credible evidence to unjustly malign Pakistan and create a pretext for military adventurism, a casus belli. This, according to the FO, serves India’s domestic political agenda by diverting attention from internal issues such as rising communal tensions and human rights violations in Indian-Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The FO further asserted that India’s actions following the Pahalgam incident, including targeting Pakistani military bases, were reckless provocations that risked escalating the situation to a disastrous level. This behavior, the FO argued, reflects a revisionist mindset intent on disrupting South Asian strategic stability.

Pakistan unequivocally rejected India’s attempt to normalize its actions, including justifying the deaths of innocent civilians as a "new normal" for the region. The FO reiterated its commitment to upholding the principles of the UN Charter and defending its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the security of its people. Pakistan warned that it would closely monitor India’s actions and urged the international community to do the same. The FO emphasized that Pakistan’s response to Indian aggression was calibrated, targeted military installations, and demonstrated Pakistan’s military strength, a fact they believe cannot be refuted by Indian propaganda.

The FO also criticized India’s disregard for the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT), a long-standing agreement governing shared water resources. Pakistan vowed to take all necessary measures to protect its rights under the treaty. The FO reaffirmed Pakistan’s stance as a victim of India-sponsored terrorism, highlighting its contributions and sacrifices in the global fight against terrorism. Pakistan reiterated its commitment to a peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

Pakistan expressed support for US President Donald Trump’s efforts to resolve the Kashmir dispute, which remains a persistent source of instability in South Asia. The FO underscored the importance of peace, regional cooperation, and respect for international norms, contrasting these values against what it termed India’s "theatrical militarism and grandstanding." The FO emphasized Pakistan’s strength as a sovereign nation with resilient institutions and a committed populace, cautioning against mistaking its commitment to peace for weakness.

Pakistan issued a stern warning that any future aggression will be met with resolute action, expressing hope that India would prioritize regional stability and the well-being of its citizens over what the FO described as politically motivated jingoism. The FO’s strongly worded statement underscores the escalating tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors and highlights the urgent need for international attention and mediation to prevent further conflict in the region.
