Jehue Middle School Incident: No Charges Filed Against Students Involved in Altercation

SAN BERNARDINO, CA – In a statement released on March 24, 2025, San Bernardino County District Attorney Jason Anderson announced that no charges would be filed against either of the two students involved in an incident that occurred at Jehue Middle School on March 10, 2025. The incident, which was partially captured on video and subsequently released to the public, sparked widespread speculation and fueled misinformation regarding potential criminal charges. Anderson’s statement definitively clarified that no charges were ever filed, nor were any citations issued, emphasizing that the circulating rumors were inaccurate.

The District Attorney’s decision followed a thorough review of the entire investigation and all available facts pertaining to the case. While confidentiality laws prevent the disclosure of specific details, Anderson stressed that the publicly released video depicted only a partial account of the incident. This incomplete portrayal contributed to the mischaracterization of events and the spread of false information regarding potential legal repercussions. Anderson underscored that in such cases involving juveniles, the process typically involves issuing citations, which then trigger a referral for prosecution. However, in this instance, no citations were issued, precluding any further legal action.

Addressing the public’s concerns and emphasizing the impartiality of the decision-making process, Anderson explicitly stated that the desires of the involved parties and their families, while not a decisive factor, were taken into consideration. He further emphasized that external pressures, including protests, press conferences, and media statements fueled by misinformation and exaggerated claims, played no role in the decision not to file charges. The District Attorney’s office maintained an objective stance, focusing solely on the facts and evidence presented during the investigation.

Characterizing the incident as an "anomaly," Anderson expressed his hope that both students involved could move forward without being defined by this single event. He conveyed his confidence in the school district’s ongoing efforts to provide appropriate support and guidance to the students, ensuring their well-being and academic progress. Moreover, Anderson expressed his trust in the school district’s commitment to implementing preventative measures to minimize the likelihood of similar incidents occurring in the future. He emphasized the importance of creating a safe and supportive learning environment for all students, fostering a culture of respect and understanding within the school community.

The District Attorney’s statement brings a sense of closure to the incident, dispelling the rumors and misinformation that had circulated in the aftermath of the altercation. It highlights the importance of due process, thorough investigation, and fact-based decision-making within the juvenile justice system. By refraining from filing charges, the District Attorney’s Office aims to allow the students involved to learn from the experience and move forward without the burden of criminal records, focusing on their education and personal growth.

The incident serves as a reminder of the potential for misinformation to spread rapidly in the digital age, particularly in sensitive situations involving minors. It underscores the importance of responsible media consumption and the need to verify information before drawing conclusions or perpetuating rumors. The school district’s commitment to addressing the root causes of the incident and implementing preventative measures signals a proactive approach to fostering a positive and safe learning environment for all students. This incident, while unfortunate, provides an opportunity for growth and improvement within the school community, emphasizing the importance of communication, understanding, and restorative practices in addressing conflict.
