UK’s Online Safety Act: A New Era of Accountability for Social Media Platforms

The ensuing clashes with police, arrests, and property damage underscored the dangerous potential of online platforms to amplify hate speech and incite real-world violence. This incident, and the subsequent calls for stricter measures by Prime Minister Keir Starmer, highlighted the pressing need for legislation like the Online Safety Act.
