Covid Situation

In this guide, I am going to be talking all about the COVID-19 pandemic situation in the country of the United Kingdom. The United Kingdom has actually gone through a lot, especially when it comes to the pandemic. They have been in lockdown for the longest time. They have finally decided to unlock on July 19. They were actually supposed to unlock long ago, but because of the surge in cases, they had to postpone the unlocking.

COVID-19 pandemic situation

The Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, has said that all of the Covid restrictions will be lifted in the United Kingdom after July 19, and there will be a lot of changes as to how life will be in the United Kingdom.

The country actually managed to handle the Covid situation in a somewhat decent manner. They actually had a surge in cases which caused a second wave, and this is something that caused them to go into lockdown. At some point, they had millions of active cases, and they tried their best to make sure that everybody who had the virus was treated carefully and properly. Currently, the country has an active case count of more than 600,000. This is more than a lot of countries, but still not as bad as countries like the United States of America that have an active case count of more than 4 million, currently. I feel that what is helping the United Kingdom is the vaccination rate. Millions of people or getting vaccinated. Currently, more than 70% of the population have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. These vaccines have been very influential when it comes to reducing the number of people infected with the virus. Even if the person gets infected with the virus after getting a vaccine, the chances of them ending up in hospital is significantly lesser when compared to a person who is infected with the virus, who doesn’t have gotten a jab of the COVID-19 vaccine.

More than 50% of the population have been fully vaccinated, and they are not far away from achieving her immunity. Once 60% of the population is vaccinated, there will be lesser chances of the virus to spread. They have also implemented a lot of harsh rules and regulations for people entering the country. They do not allow people from red-listed countries to enter the country without doing a 10 day quarantine in a government-mandated hotel in London. The people who have to quarantine have to do two Covid tests while in quarantine. The people from Amber listed countries also have to do the same, and the people from green listed countries do not have to quarantine.
