Less than two weeks before Donald Trump’s presumptive return to the presidency, Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and Threads, has announced a significant shift in its content moderation strategy. The company is abandoning its established fact-checking program, which relied on third-party organizations to review and flag potentially false information, in favor of a crowdsourced model similar to Twitter/X’s Community Notes.
