Combating Misinformation: Bangladesh Empowers Information Officers in the Digital Age

DHAKA, May 4, 2025 – In an era dominated by the rapid dissemination of information, the battle against misinformation and disinformation has become paramount for governments worldwide. The Information and Broadcasting Adviser, Md. Addressing a gathering of district information officers at a two-day workshop on "Digital Verification and Fact-Checking," held at the Bangladesh Computer Council auditorium in Agargaon, Dhaka, Adviser Alam stressed the meticulous nature of these misinformation campaigns. He highlighted the challenge they pose to the interim government, urging information officers to acquire the expertise needed to effectively counter them. The workshop, organized by the ICT Division, aimed to enhance the capabilities of these officers in navigating the complex digital landscape and identifying and debunking false information.
