Armenia and UN Discuss Combating Disinformation and Hate Speech Amidst Geopolitical Tensions
NEW YORK – On September 23, 2024, against the backdrop of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Robert Abisoghomonyan met with UN Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications Melissa Fleming to address the escalating issue of disinformation and hate speech in the context of heightened geopolitical tensions. The two officials exchanged perspectives on the alarming proliferation of false and inflammatory narratives, particularly through increasingly diverse and sophisticated online channels.
