China Condemns US Disinformation Campaign Targeting Caribbean Investments
Beijing has launched a sharp rebuke against the United States, accusing it of disseminating disinformation regarding China’s investment activities in the Caribbean. A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Guo Jiakun, countered allegations made by US officials, asserting that China’s investments are grounded in principles of mutual respect, equality, and win-win cooperation. He emphasized that these investments have yielded tangible benefits for local populations, contributing to economic growth and improved livelihoods.
The spokesperson’s comments followed remarks made by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio during a visit to Jamaica. Rubio cautioned against China’s alleged "predatory practices" in the region, claiming that Chinese investments would burden Caribbean nations with insurmountable debt. Guo Jiakun dismissed these claims as baseless, characterizing the "debt burden" narrative as mere hype that ignores the facts.

Colonel Wu’s statement followed reports that China’s Ministry of State Security had identified several senior members of Taiwan’s "Information, Communications and Electronic Force Command" allegedly involved in cyber operations against the mainland. He underscored the seriousness of such activities, warning that "those who play with fire will not avoid being burnt."
